Fall/Winter Canadian Fashions Arrive

It does not fell like spring has arrived in Canada, but we are already looking at the fall/winter fashion season for 2014. It often feels odd looking this far ahead with fashion as weather does not feel appropriate, but at the moment people probably still feel like wrapping up and so looking at warmer outfits can feel good.

The collections at the World MasterCard Fashion Week brought together the best of Canadian design and clothes were studied in detail. There was a lot of outerwear as well as models made up to look like they had been out in the chilled air.

Many of the items could be worn right now. Everything felt fresh with light colours, but also warm. There was a lot of texture such as fur but also fluffy knitted items to cosy up in. There seems to still be plenty of cuddling up weather left before spring really arrives. Mixing textures was also something that appealed with cut-out leather, metallic parts as well as contrast perhaps between sleeves and main body, for example. Moto jackets were still very much in, so if you have one already then you will be able to wear it again in the fall. Great news as they are heavy and warm and also not exactly cheap! There was quite a bit of nostalgia on the catwalk especially with 90’s styles and this came in the form of wrap skirts, pastel colours and cropped sweaters so you might have to have a dig around in the back of your closet to see if you have anything old that you can bring out next fall. Colour was a big thing as well with spring summer being very white, colours are certainly back. Longer lengths in skirts were there but with high heels to keep you feeling and looking good.
